Prior to Mix FM, it was known as "Red Hot Mix FM 105.9", when in 2000, former Magic 89.9 personality Bong Aportadera (known on-air as "Sonny B") returned to his hometown to set up the station, in partnership with Randall Ong. In 2005, "Red Hot" was eventually dropped (althrough still heard on 24K Friday and The No.1 Weekend) and it was renamed "105.9 Mix FM". On that same year, Mix FM became the number one radio station in Mindanao. Mix FM targets young and active listeners (A, B, and upper C market).
Mix FM now added legendary Los Angeles radio disc jockey Rick Dees, who hosts the Rick Dees' Weekly Top 40 countdown. Also, the station hosting several events in DC such as House Party and Sikat!.
